TiO2 photocatalyst with high visible light activity was prepared by 2-D MXene as the precursor by constructing the ordered nanosheet structure and modifying the uniform carbon layer. In visible light, the photocatalytic activity of tio2 nanosheets /C composites is three times higher than that of tio2. The results show that the high photocatalytic activity can be attributed to three reasons. One is the ordered nanosheet structure inherited from two-dimensional MXene, which facilitates hole separation and transport of electrons. The second is that the modification of the carbon layer obviously expands the visible light absorption region. In addition, the carbon layer also promotes the separation and migration of photogenerated carriers. The proposed in situ carbon modification strategy improves the photocatalytic activity of visible light and develops the photocatalytic mechanism.
